Lilacs have always stunned me. They're simple to breed and look amazing, however, there aren't many being shown. I remember going to Dawlish Show in 2016 and not seeing any Lilacs. Apparently there just aren't many good show specimens out there anymore and not many people have the time or room to get them back up to standard. The issue with lilacs comes from the Dark Grey gene, the Dark Grey Gene not only produces kinked tails occasionally, they also produce a browning tint to the fur, unfortunately this browning is rampant in Lilacs and they go brown around 4-5 months of age making their show career short and mostly not worth it.
Lilacs need careful outcrossing every few generations with a nice Cinnamon, which means after 3-4 generations of lilacs, you need to skip 2 generations to remake lilacs. So to put it simply, you build it, knock it down and rebuild it again.
My aim with my lilacs is to produce a consistent line of Show Quality Lilacs with the pink hue that was loved many years ago in the hopes more people will want to show, breed and own them again.
